How to Plan the Ultimate Galentine’s Day Party (Because Besties > Everything)
Share
Valentine’s Day is cute and all… but let’s be honest.
Galentine’s Day is where the real magic happens.
No pressure.
No expectations.
No overpriced & crowded dinners.
Just laughter, good food, inside jokes, and the kind of friendships that get you through literally everything. Whether you’re single, married, a mom, or just tired — Galentine’s Day is about celebrating the girls who always show up.
If you are like me and made a commitment to "PLAN THE PARTIES" this year! This is the first part to plan, because it's so easy and meaningful!
Here’s exactly how I planned a Galentine’s Day party that was equal parts cozy, FUN, and unforgettable — plus a few things I’d absolutely do again (and a few I wouldn’t).
Step 1: Set the Vibe (This Matters More Than You Think)
Before you even think about snacks or playlists, decide what kind of night you want.
For me, the goal was simple:
-
Laugh a lot
-
Eat decadent food
-
Feel connected
-
Leave everyone smiling
The sweet spot? 8–12 people. Enough energy to keep things fun, but not so many that you can’t actually talk. You also have to consider your overall space. I simply counted the seats in my most comfortable area: 6 could fit on my couch and 8 could fit at my table, so ideally 8-12 was a sweet spot for me.
Color palette: pink, red, champagne, white, and black (but really, whatever you want! It's your party).
Candles are non-negotiable here. They instantly set the mood and make even the most average living room feel intentional. Keep the scents light and air, not over powering. Think about who is coming.
Step 2: A Simple Planning Timeline (Planning Ahead = Less Stress)
3-4 weeks before
- Pick a date (any time of day works — Galentine’s don't judge)
- Invite your people
- Decide if it’s potluck or hosted
2 weeks before
- Order a special gift for each of your Galentine's! I highly recommend the "Besties before Testes" candle by Sarcasm & Spice Co.
- Make or order any decorations
- Plan your menu
- Make a loose game plan for the night
2-3 days before
- Check-in with your Galentine's: Let them know how excited you are to spend the time with them! (Trust me, there is nothing better than hearing your wanted.)
- Go shopping for any food you are making!
Day of
- Chill the drinks
- Put on music
- Lower expectations (perfection is overrated)
Step 3: The Food (Decadent > Light & Fluffy)
Galentine’s Day food should feel indulgent. This is not a salad night.
Go-to favorites:
-
Chocolate-dipped strawberries
-
Hot dips with crusty bread
-
Anything cheesy
-
Anything rich
-
Anything you’d normally say “I probably shouldn’t” to
If it feels a little dramatic, you’re doing it right.
Step 4: A Signature Galentine’s Drink (Cocktail + Mocktail)
Because everyone deserves something fun in their glass.
Cocktail: “The Gal Pal Spritz”
-
Champagne or prosecco
-
Splash of cranberry juice
-
Orange peel or strawberry garnish
Mocktail version
-
Sparkling water
-
Cranberry juice
-
Splash of orange juice
-
Same garnish (because vibes matter)
Step 5: Games That Don’t Feel Cringey
You don’t need a full agenda, but a few easy games help break the ice and get everyone laughing.
Easy Galentine’s game ideas:
- “How We Met” stories
- A round of “Most Likely To…”
- Anonymous question jar (optional chaos)
The goal isn’t competition — it’s connection. Stay away from things that might make someone feel singled out or picked on (unless your group is totally okay with picking on each other)
Step 6: The Gift Moment (My Favorite Part of the Night)
At the end of the night — when everyone’s relaxed, laughing, and full — this is where the magic happens.
I handed each friend a gift as a small but meaningful reminder of the night. Not just a party favor… but something they could light later and instantly remember how it felt to be in that room. I also take this moment to share with each person, just how much they mean to me!
The Galentine's collection by Sarcasm & Spice Co is the best!
Their funny.
Their honest.
And they say exactly what Galentine’s Day is all about.
No matter what life throws at us — relationships, heartbreak, chaos — we have each other.
Either carefully pick each scent for each guest or get all the same scent!
