FAQ
Candle Care
HOW DO I PROPERLY BURN MY CANDLE?
Oh, you want to burn it the right way? Look at you, being a responsible candle owner.
- First burn: Don’t trim the wick. Yes, I said DON’T. Light it and let it burn until the wax melts all the way to the edges. This is how you avoid the dreaded “wax donut hole” (aka tunneling).
- Every burn after that: Now you do trim the wick to about ¼ inch and let the wax melt all the way to the edges. An untrimmed wick gets dramatic — tall flame, extra soot, and a whole lot of attitude.
- Location, location, location: Burn your candle on a flat, heat-safe surface away from drafts, vents, or your ceiling fan on “jet engine” mode. Wind = ugly, uneven burns.
TROUBLESHOOTING
(aka Why Is My Candle Being Weird?)
Tunneling
If your candle looks like it’s digging for treasure straight down the middle, congrats — you’ve got tunneling. Let each burn melt all the way across to retrain your candle like the little wax goblin it is.
Uneven Burning
If one side is melting faster than the other, your candle is literally being pushed around by air or tilted. Close a window, shut a vent, and make sure the candle isn’t sitting on the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
How to Fix a Bumpy Top
If the surface looks like a candle crime scene after it cools, you can carefully level the higher side with a butter knife. Then burn it long enough to reset the wax pool and pretend nothing ever happened.
Black Smoke or Loud Crackling
If your candle is suddenly acting like a tiny campfire, the wick is too long. Blow it out, trim it to ¼ inch, and relight. Magic.
“Wet Spots” or Random Patches on the Glass
Those weird spots on the jar? Totally normal. Wax likes to expand and contract with temperature changes, causing the glass to look like it’s ghosting the candle. Purely cosmetic. Your candle isn’t broken — just moody.
Frosting or Crystals on Top
This looks like your candle tried to grow Himalayan salt, but don’t worry — it’s a natural thing that happens with soy and natural waxes. It does not affect burn quality or scent. It’s basically candle acne.
Yellow or Pink Tinting
Some fragrance oils tint wax different colors. Think of it as natural candle blush. It’s normal and doesn’t change how it burns or smells. It just adds character — like freckles, but wax.
OTHER FAQ
Do you do private label or custom scents?
Not right now. We love you, but not enough to create “Aunt Brenda’s Basement Breeze” or “Chad’s Gym Sock Surprise.”
Do you offer bulk discounts for events or gifts?
Oh yes. Weddings, corporate gifts, bribing your boss — we’ve got you.
Send us and email at info@sarcasmandspiceco.com and we’ll send pricing that won’t make you cry (hopefully).
Will you donate candles for my event?
We’re a small business, not Amazon. So while we can’t donate 300 candles for swag bags, we sometimes donate a single candle or a small gift for causes we care about. For everything else, bulk pricing is your friend.
Do you dropship?
Nope. Absolutely not. Zero interest. Next question.
Do you wholesale?
Yes! If you want our candles in your shop, email us at info@sarcasmandspiceco.com and let’s chat.
